Christianity

Christianity is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion centered on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, whom Christians believe to be the Son of God and the Messiah (Christ) prophesied in the Hebrew Scriptures. It emerged in the 1st century CE in the Roman province of Judea and grew to become the world's largest religion, with over two billion adherents worldwide.

Christian theology is grounded in the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments. Central beliefs include the Trinity (God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), salvation through grace and faith, the incarnation, and the promise of eternal life. Christianity encompasses a wide range of traditions including Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestant denominations, each with distinct practices and emphases.

The teachings of Jesus emphasize love, compassion, forgiveness, and the coming of the Kingdom of God. The Sermon on the Mount, parables, and letters of the apostles form the ethical and spiritual foundation for Christian life.
